IntroductionThe Long-Range Plan for Technology implies a vision where an education systems facilitates the needs of 21st Century students for their secure future and gives educators, parents, school board members and the community the tools, resources and strategies to meet this goal. A strong infrastructure is needed to support this vision.
The plan entails that an infrastructure for technology must provide an equitable foundation where access to all resources will be available anytime and anywhere to all users from educators to students, parents and stakeholders. The infrastructure must have access to just-in-time technical assistance, ensure that all data is secure and accurate and have data standards being used and supported for all users.
The infrastructure must be able to provide:
(1) Easy accessibility to information
(2) Fast technical support availability
(3) Data security and accuracy
(4) Data standards for all users
ProgressLyndon B. Johnson (LBJ) High School has hit the target area of Advanced Tech in 2007-2008 and making it the most improved area of four.
Key Areas
(1) Teaching & Learning
(2) Educator Preparation
(3) Administration & Support
(4) Infrastructure
Securing this infrastructure will insure that all technology is adequate and supported.
Trends
In 2006-2007 LBJ increased from 8 to 10. 2007-2008 marked the biggest improvement by five points from 10 to 15. Even though the target has been met, it is important to keep the trend and improve standards in a changing technological world.
Recommendations for Improvement
The CATE Department has a solid foundation of growth in a technology foundation. A stronger foundation can be established throughout the school if the foundation is extended deeper into the core curriculum. This will further support the campus technology goals and needs.
